A nationally renowned expert on criminal law and procedure, Professor Meares’ teaching and research focus on constitutional law and criminal justice reform, with a particular emphasis on policing, procedural justice, and legitimacy. In the fall of 2014, Prof. Meares was selected to serve on President Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing. Professor Meares was chosen by Attorney General Eric Holder to participate in the Justice Department’s National Initiative for Building Community Trust and Justice by serving as the director of the new Collaborative for Justice Policy Innovation at Yale Law School. In 2015, Professor Meares was also chosen to serve as an Associate Reporter for the American Law Institute, Principles of Law Project on Police Investigations.
